Building of the new Primary Care Centre (PCC) in Ashton is now complete and open to the public.

Exciting and innovative, the centre was in the planning and development stages for 2 years, including the involvement of members of the public and representatives from partner agencies.

The PCC's address is:

Ashton Primary Care Centre
193 Old St, Ashton-Under-Lyne
OL6 7SR
Tel No. 0161 342 7000

The PCC is the first in a series of developments planned for NHS Tameside & Glossop areas, aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of both patients and staff.

What services will I find at Ashton PCC?

An impressive part of the design is the incorporation of a series of features to promote sustainable technologies including:

  • rainwater harvesting systems supplying reclaimed water
  • combined Heat and Power (CHP) units to provide continuous base heating as well as topping up or supplementing the conventional electricity supply in the buildings
  • roof mounted solar thermal panels to provide 30% of the daily hot water demand

Signage will be located in the main entrance reception areas to highlight these systems to the general public.

Carbon footprint

We aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 20% through:

  • Operating a sustainable resources policy.
  • Setting radical new objectives for our transport, buildings and service planning policies and new developments.
  • Developing more renewable energy.
  • Acheiving the highest standards of sustainable building design.
