EDS On-line Survey – Equality Delivery System
The Equality Delivery System intends to target the following 4 equality performance goals:
1. Better Health Outcomes for all
2. Improved patient access & experience
3. Empowered, engaged & well supported staff
4. Inclusive leadership at all levels

All NHS organisations are required to gather evidence of their performance across the above 18 Outcomes, dropping down from the 4 EDS Goals.
We are encouraging patients, carers, members of the public and staff to complete a new EDS on-line survey during February 2012. The survey involves completion of 3 pages and an equality monitoring page and should take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

We need your help to better understand how our equality performance is experienced by patients, carers and staff.
Our equality performance will then be graded by local interest groups later in 2012 across Tameside and Glossop. This will be the first time the NHS performance in this area has been assessed externally by local interest groups for each NHS organisation. We want to make our practice and performance increasingly transparent to; public scrutiny and recommendations for improvements.
EDS provides a challenging opportunity to view and grade our local services’ performance through the experiences of patients, carers, public and staff. We want to use your valued feedback to improve the way we approach taking ‘due regard’ of each of the protected groups set out in the Equality Act 2010, as a minimum standard.
The overall aim is to ensure our services are understood and taken-up as being accessible by all sections of our local communities. This includes improving take up of service and fair access to each of the protected groups who are sometimes more marginalised and may be harder to reach.
