Your GP and A&E are not the only sources of treatment when you are ill or injured.
Remember your options -
Self care – for the treatment of minor illnesses, by combining a well stocked medicine cabinet with plenty of rest and exercise.
NHS Direct – for absolutely any health questions, around the clock, and to find local services, available online at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk or call 0845 46 47.
Pharmacists - for advice on common illnesses and the best medicines to treat them. A new text service allows you to find your nearest pharmacy by free text message, just text “pharmacy” to 64746 to receive three free texts with the name, address and telephone number of your three nearest chemists.
GPs – for medical advice, examinations and prescriptions for illnesses you just can’t shake off. Those eligible should also get their free flu jab. The Out of Hours GP service GoToDoc is available when your local GP is closed, including anytime over the Christmas and holiday season and can be contacted on 0161 336 3252.
Ashton Primary Care Centre – the Ashton GP Service at the centre is available for walk in for treatment of minor illnesses or injuries without an appointment. Minor injuries from accidents in the cold weather can be treated here rather than at A&E. This service is available 8am till 8pm, seven days a week, and can be contacted on 0161 342 7050. This service operates 365 days a year, including Christmas Day and New Years Day.
