When you don't know who to turn to about health services.....

PALS can give you help, advice and support by:

  • Helping you to clarify your problems and look at the options available to resolve them
  • Talking with health professionals on your behalf to try to sort out any problems
  • Giving you advice, information and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have
  • Telling you about health services available to you
  • Giving you details of places where further health information can be obtained
  • Letting you know about any support groups relating to your circumstances
  • Advising you how your health information may be shared or used
  • Giving you information and advice about making a formal complaint if this is necessary
  • Telling you about the role of independent advocacy services and how to contact them
  • Giving you details of how you could become involved in the planning of your local health services

PALS can help NHS Tameside and Glossop to improve its services by:

  • Listening to people’s comments about the services and feeding this information back to the PCT.
  • Using the information from patients and their relatives in staff training sessions
  • Helping the PCT to identify any trends by using what you tell us
